This site has been created so that I can experiment with a little astronomy. On the home page you will find a place to enter a day, month and year, a time and an observer's latitude. The Javascript will calculate the position of the Sun relative to the observer's horizon.
The method I used to calculate these coordinates is fairly crude and wouldn't be suitable for astronomical calculations with any precision, but they're not far off. I just wanted to see if was possible to used this method to get a rough idea of azimuth and altitude.
If you enter a latitude of either poles you'll get an infinite result and the calculation will break.
